Hows your air?

CarrierAd31Years ago, we were always certain to use the word “Heating” along with “Air Conditioning” to make sure no one ever would assume that we didn’t do heating systems also.

Then we got a clever marketing idea.

Hauser Air wants to know; Hows Your Air?!

Now “air” means so much more than heating and air conditioning. We have learned about the indoor air quality in our homes and why we get sick. The EPA has an entire page dedicated with amazing facts and figures about air quality. For instance; Indoor air pollution can be up to 10 times worse than outdoor air pollution! That’s kind of scary if you suffer from asthma or allergies. Continue reading

It’s an old stereotype: women always complain about being cold and men about feeling hot.

I hear this the most when I meet with families to talk about their in home comfort choices. It’s the same in my home. Every night, I’m in shorts and a tshirt and my wife is dying of hypothermia. Thermostat is set at 71º btw.

So, what can we do?!

Well, more often than not, I grab my iPhone, tap the thermostat app and turn it up a couple degrees (while she’s looking). A few minutes later (wife not looking) back down to money saving degree. No getting up to the thermostat any more. I’m on my comfy couch or in bed already, it’s 2013! I have an app for that!

We do still have a thermostat on the wall (Honeywell Prestige) but I wonder why? I think in the near future we will just install a few (wireless) temperature sensors around the house and use apps to control the heating and air conditioning. An app on the phone, ipad, tv and oh yeah… computer. Continue reading

Vintage

I like clean vintage stuff. I think a lot of people do.

For Valentines day I took my bride for a walk at the antique mall. We thought it was romantic to hold hands and walk. It was warm and fun to look at old stuff.

I like reminiscing about old toys and magazines. I’m always looking for classic bicycle stuff and of course hvac stuff.

The other day I was in a customer’s house and all her furniture is 40-50 years old. It was very well maintained and though vintage, it was new looking and even “in style” again.

You know what was old and not very attractive? The furnace. Even if that old furnace or air conditioner looks good or “vintage cool” it probably isn’t worth the utility payment to keep around. I know that loud, dirty, expensive machine feels like it’s become a part of the family, but now it’s time to go! Continue reading

I got an interesting email today

Dear Hauser Air, This email was sent automatically because your “Office Show Room” system settings have been updated.
…the email said.

Really? So whats that all about then?

Technology!
We had a training meeting at the office today for our technicians. The trainer, a Carrier expert, had a look at our thermostat settings and showed some of our technicians some extra features.

Offended
This thermostat is actually offended if I call it “just a thermostat”. Because it so much more. It truly is a modern marvel of technology. The Infinity Control by Carrier is a learning, diagnosing, smart comfort command center (my words). Continue reading
